Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet saved four early chances in a close final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
