Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
